In this podcast, Lesley Arens gets inside the heads of Siviglia Berto, managing director of B-Tonic and Herman Konings, the trendwatcher par excellence. Although, he prefers to call himself a change psychologist.

Herman Konings examined the main trends in well-being at work. That is what we talk about in this episode of Brainpickings. On healthy leadership, healthy thinking, healthy eating, healthy exercise and healthy sleep. In an engaging trend report, Herman explores what happens ‘after what has happened’, drawing heavily on studies and literature related to well-being in the workplace. He prefers to look at trends in the Netherlands, Canada and Scandinavia and then translate it to Belgium. Belgium is running behind, he says, but he sees that as an advantage: “Then we get a glimpse of a future that may arise and work with that. But the future is always fictional.”

Younger people walk faster but older people know the way. This is not true. Older people prefer to listen to what young people have to say instead of letting them tread calibrated paths.

  • On resonance: an emotional reflex that people experience in their connection with the environment, especially after a period of restriction.
  • About the FUD generation: fear, uncertainty & doubt and the role social media and influencers play in it.
  • On fluid identity, diversity & inclusion.
  • On well-building and the impact of buildings on employee health and productivity.
  • On the importance of walking, with or without a dog?

And about occasionally just doing nothing. Because that is allowed too! Long live nihilism
