The impact of mental problems at work.

Mental complaints such as stress, burnout, a lack of support, and conflicts often lead to employee absenteeism in the current job market. Antwerp Management School, in collaboration with B-Tonic, is conducting scientific research into preventive measures to prevent absenteeism due to mental health issues.

Financial development of the federal government

Recently, the federal government announced a plan to invest 6 million euros in personal guidance for individuals showing early symptoms of burnout. Although senior researcher Eva Geluk acknowledges this contribution as an important step, she emphasizes the need for additional efforts.

Research on employers approach

A studie from the Antwerp Management School revealed that employers frequently underestimate the challenges that their employees faces, which leads to a gap in understanding and communication. This emphasis the need for organisation to openly talk about the workload and to implement an effective welfare policy that can really contribute to a well supported working environment.

Goals of new research mental complaints.

The new research will give a new approach on how company can prevent sick leave due to mentale problem. It researches the dilemma’s at work, the difficult speakable subjects, and how organisation can take preventions.

The need for statistics

Statistics highlights the urgency of this research The workload according to SERV workability monitor of 2014 to 2019 went high with twenty percent. The number of people with a burn-out went high with 40,3% between 2016 and 2017. A kwarter of the people with a burn out fell back, shows the research of Geluk.
